Tim Kevan is a barrister and writer. His first novel Law and Disorder (Bloomsbury) (originally called BabyBarista and the Art of War) has been described by broadcaster Jeremy Vine as "a wonderful, racing read - well-drawn, smartly plotted and laugh out loud" and by The Times as "a cross between The Talented Mr Ripley, Rumpole and Bridget Jones's Diary". It is based on the BabyBarista Blog which he now writes for The Guardian and for three years before that for The Times. His second novel is a sequel entitled Law and Peace and will also be published by Bloomsbury in May 2011. He has just started a monthly column on civil liberties for The Guardian Online and also writes a monthly column for Devon Life and is the co-author of Why Lawyers Should Surf (with Dr Michelle Tempest) which The Times Online described as "a song for the modern age which could well become a cult classic". He practised as a barrister at 1 Temple Gardens in London for ten years specialising in particular in credit hire, personal injury, civil fraud and sports law. He has written or co-written ten law books and been described by Chambers UK as "incredibly talented", with an "unsurpassed knowledge of the law" and who "put some very fine performances in as an advocate". He has also had regular appearances on TV and radio including Richard & Judy and The Jeremy Vine Show. He lives by the sea in Braunton in North Devon, goes surfing at the merest hint of swell and is a co-founder of two legal businesses. Brought up in Minehead in Somerset, he was educated at Cambridge University and was a scholar of the Middle Temple. See also BabyBarista, BabyBarista at The Guardian and The Barrister Blog.
